ONTARIO MMA RETURNS

Mixed martial arts returns to London Ontario this Saturday, as Provincial Fighting Championship holds its first event at the Western Fair Agriplex building. This fight card is loaded with local talent, and Kimurawear is very proud to support and sponsor 4 of the fighters on the card.

Jesse Gross

In the co-main event of the evening, Jesse "The Ghost" Gross looks to continue his hot streak and take out the undefeated Michael Karkula of Extreme Couture Toronto. Gross is coming off a unanimous decision win over another top Canadian in Tristan Johnson. If Jesse is able to take out Karkula, he will be one step closer to making it to the big show. Gross is mainly known as an explosive and devastating striker, but showed solid wrestling skills in his last bout against Tristan Johnson. This fight is worthy of its co-main event status, and we look forward to watching Jesse go to war.

Shannon Ludlow

Shannon "The Cannon" Ludlow will be making her professional debut at Provincial Fighting Championship. The London native fights out of the Adrenaline Training Centre, which is where such mma stars as Mark Hominick, Sam Stout, and headlining fighter Chris Horodecki call home. Ludlow has fought once as an amateur and looks to get the same result in her professional debut. Shannon was able to score a third round submission win this past July in Michigan.

Darryl Marin

Darryl Marin is making his professional mma debut at Provincial Fighting Championship, but he is far from a newcomer to the art of fighting. Darryl has competed in over 70 amateur and professional muay thai bouts, nationally and internationally. Marin is also the owner and main instructor at Darkside Muay Thai in Kitchener Ontario. Having top notch stand up skills, would make most think that Darryl is uncomfortable on the ground, but that is not the case. Marin has been working on his ground for quite some time and is ready where ever the fight goes.

Malcolm Gordon

Malcolm Gordon last competed at Substance Cage Combat in Toronto Ontario, where he faced Ahmed Akkar. The ultra explosive flyweight was allover his opponent and was able to set a pace that Ahmed could not keep up. Despite being deep in a triangle choke in the second round, Gordon was able to finish off his opponent with strikes on the ground. After pushing his record to 2-0 at SCC, Malcolm will look to make it three in a row in London.

We look forward to this event and hope for it to be a success for #teamkimurawear as well as the PFC.

MMA NEWS: JOSH HILL ON TUF:18

Josh Hill on TUF 18
Canadian bantamweight and Kimurawear sponsored athlete Josh Hill, was one of 16 bantamweights that were flown down to Las Vegas for a chance to make it onto The Ultimate Fighter television show. It has been a long time coming for the 26 year old from Hamilton ON. Hill has been fighting professional for the past 4 years and accumulated a very impressive record of 9-0. Long considered a top prospect at 135 pounds, the ultimate fighter seemed like a logical step for Hill to take. In order to make it past the first episode, Josh had to do battle in the octagon, and earn a place in the ultimate fighter house. Josh was able to get his opponent and was picked to be on Miesha Tates team. The former model has not fought since and has had little camera time, but I think that is about change in the near future as the gentleman is bound to fight sooner than later.

Follow Josh on Twitter: @gentlemanjhill

Be sure to tune in every Wednesday at 10pm, on Rogers Sportsnet to support the local Canuck.

FIGHT PREVIEW: UFC 165

The UFC drops down in Ontario s capital again this Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre and brings two titles that are sure to excite the fans. There is plenty of Canadian talent on the undercard that should bring some pride to the great white north.

Jon Jones Vs Alexander Gustafsson

Jon Jones puts his 205 title on the line when he faces Swedish import Alexander Gustafsson. This will be the fist time that the champ will have to face someone who is as tall as him and has a similar reach as Jones. Jones reach advantage has seen him make great fighters look not so great, so the question is will he employ a stand up strategy against Gustafsson. Who has the better striking? Its a close call on who has the more polished striking in the main event, but Jones does bring a more deserve arsenal to the table. Jones has a clear advantage in the wrestling department, but he seldom takes his opponents down. I think Jones is the superior athlete and will win this fight were ever it goes. I see it going to the distance and Bones Jones remaining the best at 205 pounds.

Renan Barao vs Eddie Wineland

The interim bantamweight title is on the line in the co-main event as champion Dominick Cruz is still sidelined with injury. Interm champion Renan Barao looks to defend his title for the second time against former WEC featherweight champ Eddie Wineland. Barao has looked flawless in his UFC and WEC career so far but Wineland has been impressive in his last two bouts against Brad Pickett and Scott Jorgensen. Barao will likely take this bout with a combination of his high level muay thai and jiu jitsu skills. I see Barao getting the finish in the 3rd.

Brendan Schaub vs Matt Mitrione

Heavyweights are in action as Ultimate Fighter alumnus Brendan Schaub takes on fellow castrate Matt Mitrione. Both fighters have improved tremendously since there time on the Ultimate fighter and have developed well rounded skill sets. If Mitrione can keep it it on the feet he has a good chance of winning the fight. Schaub seems more comfortable on the ground and will likely try to get the fight to the mats and look to ground out a decision. I think Mitrione is going to get the KO in this fight, in the first round.

Costa Philippou vs Francis Carmont

Two big athletic middle weights are looking to get to the top of there division, and the winner of this fight will be close to the top of the division. Costa has the better striking and will likely win a stand up war by KO. Carmont is a big and athletic middleweight who is likely to look for the take down and ground fight. Can Carmont take down Phillippou? He can and is likely to get it to the mat at some point, but I see Costa being able to get back to his feet and get the KO.

Pat Healy vs Khabib Nurmagomedev

Top light weights are in action in the opening bout of the main card as Pat Healy takes on Russian fighter Khabib Nurmagomdev. Healys last fight saw him dominate top contender Jim Miller, while Khabib smothered Abel Trujillo to death in his last bout. It will be interesting to see who dominates the grappling portion of this fight as they are both very good at what they do. This fight could down as a stinker and hugging contest, but I am very interested to see how it plays out. Not sure who takes this one.

Also on the card are Canadians Mike Ricci, Ivan Menjivar, Chris Clements, Mitch Gagnon, John Makdessi, Jesse Ronson, and Roland Delorme. Lets go Canucks!!!!

FIGHT PREVIEW: UFC FIGHT NIGHT 27

The UFC is holding an event on August 28th in Indianapolis Indiana at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. For the second consecutive Saturday UFC fans can watch some the worlds best athletes compete on free television. Not to shabby. The card is not quite as stacked as last weeks debut on Fox Sports 1 but its free mma, so don't bother complaining.

Carlos Condit vs Martin Kampmann

In the main event we have a rematch that has been four years in the making. Carlos Condit lost a close split decision to Martin Kampmann at UFC Fight Night 18 in 2009. Both fighters are coming of loses to number one contender Johny Hendricks and are in need of strong performance to stay relevant as a top contender. The winner will likely remain in the mix and the loser will have to work there way back up. Both fighters have high level striking and grappling skills, but Kampmann is coming off an extremely devastating knockout loss. The kind of knock out that a fighter never fully recovers from and makes them more susceptible to future knock outs. Im going to go with Condit by tko, I just cant see Kampmann being the same fighter after his last fight.

Donald Cerrone vs Rafael Dos Anjos

In the co-main event, two of the top lightweights in the world collide as the cowboy Donald Cerrone takes on surging Brazilian import Rafeal Dos Anjos. Cerrone has compiled an impressive 7-2 record in the UFC, and has ranked in the top 10 for quite some time. While Dos Anjos has won his last 4 bouts, which include wins over Evan Dunham, and Mark Bocek. Much like the main event, the winner of this bout will only be a one or two fights away from a title shot. Cerrone will have a definitive reach advantage and should be able to to win the majority of the striking exchanges, while the more compact Brazilian fighter should be able to control Cerrone on the ground to get the decision. Tough fight to call, im going to go with Dos Anjos by decision.

Kevin Gastelum vs Brian Melancon

Ultimate Fighter 17 winner Kevin Gastelum makes his return to the octagon after winning the reality show and faces one time UFC fighter Brian Melancon. Gastelum brings a lot of heart, tenacity and wrestling skills to the table and has beat all comers thus far in his mma career. Melancon had a very impressive UFC debut in his bout with Seth Baczyniski. He looked very comfortable against a much taller opponent in Baczyniski, and displayed some impressive knock out power. Although Gastelum has defeated 5 opponents to win the reality show, he is still very green in his overall mma game and Meclancon is a very dangerous fighter. Look for Melancon to another first round stoppage due to strikes.

Other bouts on the main card include a welterweight show down between Ultimate Fighter 11 winner Court McGee and Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes winner Robert Whittaker. Also a potential fight of the night at bantamweight when the always exciting Mexican Erik Perez returns to face former WEC title challenger in Takeya Mizugaki.

MARTIAL ARTS DISCIPLINES: THE ART OF BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU

Muay Thai Fighter

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, can trace its roots back to Japan, where the art of Judo was created. Judo was formed from japanese jitsu which was used on the feudal battlefields. Judo was mainly created by Jigoro Kano, who wanted to create an art that could be practiced without resulting in severe injuries. Many of the battlefield techniques were removed and Judo was created. Kano, adopted a way for participants to practice at full effort, while not permanently injuring competitors. This form of open sparring is known as Randori.

Esai Maeda, was a student of Kano, and had emigrated to Brazil to establish an Japanese Immigration colony. He was aided by Gastao Gracie, a Brazilian of Scottish descent. To show gratitude to Gracie for his help in the colonization, Maeda taught Gastao's son Carlos the basic techniques of Jiu-Jitsu. Carlos then passed on the knowledge to his brothers Oswaldo, Jorge, Gastao, and Helio.

As the story goes, Helio Gracie was a small and frail individual, who was always sitting at the side as his brothers taught Jiu Jitu. One day his brothers didn't show up to teach a class and Helio stepped in taught the class. The next day when the brothers returned, they were told by the students that they wanted Helio to train them. He had been studying the techniques from afar and had developed them to work on leverage and not strength. Even with his smaller body he was able to defeat opponents many times larger than him.

Helio would go on to open his own academy in 1940, located in Rio. The popular Gracie Jiu Jitsu academies were very popular and over the next 18 years, the four different locations in Rio would see over 2000 students come through there doors. The Gracie academies were not that the only places to train in judo or jiu jitsu in Brazil, but they were the most successful. With the growth of the sport Helio Gracie created the first federation of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1967. It was from this Federation that the belt systems for students was established. More federations would be created in later years, most importantly Carlos Gracie Jr. created the Confederacao Brasiliera in 1993. This federation had the idea of creating a world championship (the Mundials).

The art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was virtually unknown in north america. This would change with the creation of the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 1993. A one night tournament would pit different martial arts disciplines against one another. Helio Gracies son Royce would be chosen to represent the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Royce dominated the competition and the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was introduced to the masses.

FIGHT PREVIEW: UFC 163

UFC 163 is going down in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil this Saturday August 3rd at the HSBC arena. Home native Jose Aldo defends his feather weight strap in the main event. MMA seems to be making it be down in Brazil and the UFC is churning out the events to satisfy demand. This card is loaded with talent so lets break down the main card.

Jose Aldo vs Chan Sung Jung

The 145 pound kingpin Jose Aldo looks to defend his belt for the 7th time and take out one of the UFCs top featherweights the Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung. Jose Aldo has only one loss in 23 fights and that lone loss was 8 years ago. Can he take the torch of the top Brazilian fighter on the planet after Anderson Silva was knocked out at UFC 162? Quite possibly. Aldo has been extremely dominant in his WEC/UFC career, only showing that he is human in the last round against Mark Hominick as well as in the Frankie Edgar fight. Can the Korean Zombie exploit something in the champions game? Probably not, Aldo has the much better overall stand up game, with some of the most viscous low kicks around and his take down defines is top notch. THe longer the fight goes the more damage the Zombie is going to take. I see a finish from the champ. Aldo by TKO: Round 3

Lyoto Machida vs Phil Davis

A pivotal match up at light heavy weight, could see the winner getting a title shot at 205. Lyoto Machida puts his karate to the test against stand out wrestler Phil Davis. Can Davis figure out a way to time Machidas movements and get the fight to the ground, where Phil is likely to dominant? He has the wrestling and the athleticism to do it, but there is no other fighter who flights like Machidas in the UFC, and must be almost impossible to replicate in training. I can see Davis getting Machida down at some point but I don't see him finishing the former champion. I see Machida picking away at Davis with punches and kicks, and getting another crack at Jon Jones, or a first crack at Alexander Gustafsson. Machida by Unanimous Decision.

Cezar Ferreria vs Tom Watson

One of the original Ultimate Fighter Brazil winners Cezar Ferreria will get his second chance to fight for the UFC, as he has been plagued by injuries since winning the reality show. Standing in Ferreras way is fellow Brazilian and octagon newcomer Thiago Santos. Santos comes in as a replacement for the injured Clint Hester. Not much is known about Santos, expect that he has a solid record and is Brazilian. He is fighting above his weight class, so look for the much bigger Ferreria to muscle his opponent to the cage and take him down. Cezar show cased a solid submission game on the reality show, and would love to show off his skills again, in his native Brazil. Ferreria by Submission 2nd Round.

Thales Leites vs Tom Watson

Former middle weight title challenger Thales Leites makes his retun to the UFC after compiling a 6-1 record outside of the promotion. The talented grappler has to deal with the hard hitting Tom Watson from the UK. On paper this seems like a typical striker vs wrestler match up. Thales will no doubt want to get the fight to the ground, and employ his jiu jitsu on Watson but Thales isn't the strongest wrestler and will have to win at least one striking exchange to get in deep on Watson. Can Watson keep the Brazilian off of him and score with punching combinations and kicks? I see him being somewhat successful at this, but Thales will most likely find a way to drag Tom to the ground each round and win the fight. Leites by Unanimous Decision.

FIGHT PREVIEW: UFC ON FOX 8

The UFC returns to FOX this saturday the Keyarena in Seattle, Washington with a flyweight title bout as the headliner. Also on the card is a pivotal welterweight matchup, that has to have title shot ramifications for the winner.

Demetrious Johnson vs John Moraga

Demetrious Johnson looks defend his title for the 2nd time and remain undefeated at 125 pounds. Standing across the cage from him will be 13-1 John Moraga. There is no doubt this is going to be a fast paced affair with lots exchanges on the feet and scrambles on the ground. Both fighters have a wrestling background, but Moraga comes in with the higher collegiate credentials. Who ever can control the fight will likely win this one. Demetrious Johnson is one of, if not the best at mixing up his striking with his wrestling, and making his opponents looking slower than himself. I see Johnson taking this one by unanimous decision.

Rory McDonald vs Jake Ellenberger

The most anticipated fight on the card has to go between Rory McDonald and Jake Ellenberger. Two of the welterweight divisions top contenders square off, with the winner knocking on Dana Whites door for a title shot. McDonald seems to be a little sharper in his striking while Ellenberger has the edge in knock out power. The stand up portion of this fight will be very interesting to watch. The deciding factor in this bout may come down to who wins the in the wrestling department and is able to get there opponent to the mat. Ellenberger comes from a wrestling background, but McDonald is a new breed of fighter. Very tough fight to call. Im going with McDonald by decision

Robbie Lawler vs Bobby Voelker

Bobby Voelker is a replacement for former Strikefrorce champion Tarec Saffiedine, and faces the hard hitting Robbie Lawler. Lawler made an impressive UFC return when he blasted Josh Koscheck inside of one round at UFC 157, while Voelker lost a back and forth bout against Patrick Cote at UFC 158. On paper this should be a Lawler victory but Voelker isn't a guy to couldn't out. He is as resilient as they come, and will be hard to put away. Im going to go with Lawler, by decision.

Liz Carmouche vs Jessica Andrade

The ladies start off the main card, with former title challenger Liz Carmouche taking on octagon newcomer Jessica Andrade. The Brazilian, Andrade brings in an impressive record of 9-2 and looks to make a name for herself known, by taking out one the UFCs most well known ladies. But Carmouche is also looking for her first UFC win and will be looking to make a statement as well. This one could steal the show, I see Carmouche getting the win by stoppage in the 2nd round.

MARTIAL ARTS DISCIPLINES: THE ART OF MUAY THAI

Muay Thai Fighter

The art of muay thai is often considered to be the most devastating of the striking arts by many. Its easy to see why after one watches a full thai rules match. The combination of kicks, knees, elbows and punches can create a formidable weapon that generates power like no other martial art. A leg kick by a trained thai fighter is the equivalent of hitting someone in the leg with a baseball bat. The art of muay thai can be deadly indeed, but that is not what it is about to the people of Thailand. It is a very spiritually martial that is heavily ingrained into the culture of Thailand.

History

The early history of muay thai is hard to trace as the archives and records at Ayuddhaya where destroyed with much at the thai capital by the Burmese. It is known that a form of muay thai was used as training for the Thai army and used in hand to hand combat during battle. The art went from battle field training to more of a spectator event, that was often a big part in festivals and celebrations. Fighters would eventually use hemp rope around there hands, a precursor to boxing gloves.
During the reign of Rama V, Thailand was at peace with its neighbours and the whole country prospered. Rama V, took a keen interest to the art and its popularity was greatly increased. Training camps began to pop up, where masters of the art would train students who in turn received food and shelter. Students would often adopt the camps name as there own surname as everyone one at the camp was seen as family. It was not until the reign of RamaVII that rules where written down and adopted. The first boxing rings were built and referees where placed in the ring with the fighters. Rounds where timed and more modern muay thai gloves were used as well as cotton ankle protectors.
The modern age of muay thai, has seen a growth of the art through the sport of mma, but purest of the art would say that mma has diluted the true form of muay thai.

Famous Muay Thai Practitioners

  • Buakaw Por. Pramuk - Two Time K1 Max Grand Prix Champion
  • Yodsanklai Fairtex - Three Time Lumpinee Stadium champion
  • Ramon Dekkers - First foreigner in Thailand to be chosen as the "Muay Thai Fighter of the Year"
  • John Wayne Parr - 10 time World Champion
  • Anderson Silva - 10 title defenses for UFC middleweight tiltle.

NEW PRODUCT: COMBAT BRAND MMA T-SHIRT

MMA T-Shirt When Kimurawear was first created, the company was purely a producer of mma clothing and apparel. Although our primary business is now in the mma gear and equipment, we still take great pleasure offering some unique mma clothing.

Our newest concept for mma apparel line is combat brand. This is our second product for this line. Our first combat brand item was our black mma hoodie, that we we released this past winter. It was such a success that we knew we needed to build upon this.

What is combat brand? Combat brand is a lifestyle, and a attitude. It means that you don't go to the gym to lift weights and look buff. You go the gym and train in one or more martial arts. You sweat and bleed on the mats, and leave everything behind in the gym. You leave the gym with your head held high knowing that you give it all you had. Thats what combat brand means.

Our latest addition to this line is a two color mma t-shirt. Since we have released these tees they have been flying out of our warehouse and right into our loyal customers hands. Look for more combat brand lifestyle mma clothing to coming out later this summer.

MMA GEAR: THE RUNDOWN

TJ Grant
You've finally done it. You got your but a local mma gym and signed up. You are ready to take a few different classes, but you don't know what kind of mma gear you need. No need to worry, we are here to give you the run down, on what you may need or not need for begging training in mixed martial arts.

MMA/Boxing Gloves:

The most important piece of mma training equipment that you will purchase are your training gloves. Most striking classes are not mma specific and more than likely just involve stand up techniques. Boxing training gloves are great for all types of stand up training. The bigger the glove, the more protection is provided to the user. A 16 oz glove is used for sparring while a 12 oz glove is great for everyday pad, or bag work. MMA gloves are used for light sparring and grappling and not the first piece of mma gear that you should buy, but something that you might want to look at down the road.

Hand Wraps:

Are hand wraps a must for mma training. If you are just learning how to punch then absolutely. Hand wraps are designed to give you proper wrist support, which is very important for beginners who may throw punches incorrectly and take a lot of punishment on there wrist. Wither you are a pro or a rookie, hand wraps are an absolutely essentially for protecting your hands and wrists.

Mouth Guard:

How important are mouth guards in contact sports in general? Just ask your buddy who is missing his two front teeth. Mouth guards are a must for all mma practitioners doing live sparring sessions. Although sparring sessions should be controlled you never know what can happen and its better to safe than sorry. Many grapplers and jiu jitsu practitioners use a mouth guard when rolling, to prevent any damage. You may not need a mouth guard on your first day, but eventually your going to have to grab one.

Head Gear:

Your most important asset is your brain, so its best to be proactive about it. When you get more advanced and begin sparring, you should always wear head gear. It may be uncomfortable at first, but you need to get used to it and keep it on. If you are doing light sparring and are an advanced student of mma, then you can away with out wearing your head gear.

Shin Guards:

Shin guards are a used for light to heavy sparring sessions, in either stand up fighting or full mma training. They are must if you would like to take your training to another level and get some real live sparring sessions . You need to be able to react to kicking techniques in a safe environment,as well throwing your own kicking techniques. If you are starting out, then you may not need to purchase shin guards, but in the long run, they are must for anyone looking to compete or reach there potential as a martial artist.

TJ GRANT EARNS UFC TITLE SHOT

TJ Grant Canada may have a second UFC champion in the near future. Nova Scotia born, TJ Grant earned his spot as the number contender in the lightweight division by knocking out Gray Maynard in the first round on Saturday night at UFC 160.

Gray Maynard was TJs biggest named opponent to date. The former 2 time lightweight challenger had beaten many of the UFCs top lightweights and only tasted defeat once in his career. His aggressive wrestling style has given many opponents problems, and his boxing skills have greatly improved through out his UFC career.

Since dropping to lightweight from the welter weight division, TJ has impressed in everyone of his bouts. He scored victories over Shane Roller, Carlo Prater, Evan Dunham and most recently knocked out Mat Wiman. Unfortunately the main event between surging Canadian heavyweight Smealinho Rama, and American Chris Barnett hasbeen cancelled, but Kimruawear sponsored fighter Anthony Birchak and his opponent have stepped up to highlight the stacked card. Also on the card are Kimurawear athletes Jason Zentgrag and Muaki Maromo.

ANTHONY BIRCHAK

Anthony Birchak fights Ryan Benoit in the main event of MFC 37 tomorrow night. The winner of this bout is guaranteed an opportunity to fight for the inaugural bantamweight tile at a future MFC event. Birchak looks to seize this opportunity and make a statement as the top 135 pound fighter in the MFC. Birchak who fights out of Apex MMA in Tucson AZ, made a name for himself as a finisher by winning his first 4 bouts by submission. After compiling a an 8-1 record, Birchak got an opportunity to headline an event at Jacksons MMA in Albuquerque, NM. He faced one Jacksons MMA top prospects in Matt Leyva, and was able to finish him in 82 seconds by tko. This fight put Anthony on the radar of a lot promoters, and he signed an exclusive deal with Canada s top promotion in MFC.

JASON ZENTGRAF

Jason Zentgraf has already complied a 2-0 record in the MFC's middleweight division. Zentgraf looks to make it 3 in a row tomorrow night in Edmonton and make a claim for the vacant 185 pound strap. He faces brazilian jiu jitsu and judo black belt Luke Harris. Although all of Jasons victories have come by way of submission, he should have a solid striking advantage against the hometown fighter Harris. With both fighters being high level grapplers, the one who can out strike there opponent in this bout should walk away with the victory and a possible title shot.

MUAKI MAROMO

Muaki Maromo is one of the most exciting fighters to watch on the MFC roster. He is a very explosive athlete that brings in a very solid muay thai background. Coming off a loss in his last bout, Muaki should be looking to make a statement and let everyone know that he is a top contender in the MFC's lightweight division. Prior to Maromo's last bout he had complied an ultra impressive record in of 4-0 in the MFC. Muaki had beaten title challenger Adam Lynn on two occasion, with the second fight ending in highlight reel ko fashion. Maromo's next fight is against a familiar opponent in Kurt Southern. The two faced each other over two years ago, and Southern was the victory handing Muakai his first loss. Maramo is a much different fighter now and intends on showing that when he faces southern for the second time.

SE SERIES BOXING GLOVES HERE TO STAY

Last year Kimurawear released its first SE series Boxing Glove and the response was overwhelming. Our loyal customers snapped them up as quickly as they came in, and the feed back was great. What grabs the end users attention, are the visual aspects of the glove. We created a visual stunning pattern on the glove that quickly irks the customers interest. We used a specially carbon fiber blend called Rexon for the construction of the SE series. This durable material has the ability to retain detailed artwork, much better than premium leather. Another aspect of the glove that is worth talking about is the feel of the glove. Everyone who puts one of these babies on mentions something about the boxing gloves comfort and feel.

TECHNOLOGY

Our SE Series Boxing Gloves also have all the perks of our original series. All of our gloves are fitted with our ReActive™ and Core Dry™ Techs. Our ReActive™ Tech top layer foams helps the boxing glove absorb impact and protect the user while our Core Dry™ Tech moisture repellent nylon inside liner, allows the boxing gloves to dry 70% faster and eliminates odor.

THE FUTURE

So far we have released two editions of our SE Series Boxing Gloves(Red, and Carbon Fiber). We plan on releasing our third sometime this summer. We have a few different ideas going around with color and design, and im sure its going to blow most away. Remember that these are limited run boxing gloves, so when there gone, there gone.

Fighter Profile: Colton Smith

MMA fighter, Army Ranger, Husband, Father, is there anything this guy doesn't do? Kimurawear is proud to announce that Colton Smith has been added to our roster of athletes.

Army Ranger

Colton is a dedicated army ranger, who is responsible for training new recruits in hand to hand combat, in Fort Hood Texas. He is known for his strong wrestling skills as well as a very sharp jiu jitsu game. Colton passes on these skills to new recruits and gets them prepared for real situations that they could potentially face in the real world.

The Ultimate Fighter

As a fighter, Smith most recently entered in the Ultimate Fighter Competition. Colton didn't have a lot of mma fight experience, but he made up for it with real life experience as an army ranger. Throughout his time in the house, Colton would be known for his dominating wrestling style of fighting. Once he was in range he would punch to clinch, or shoot, and then be all over his opponents. His opponents didn't have time to breath and mounted little in the sense of offense. After 4 consecutive victories, Smith found himself in the finale of the show and fighting for 6 figure UFC contract.

The Finale

At the finale of the Ultimate Fighter Show, Colton would be up against Canadian fighter Mike Ricci. Like Colton, Ricci had impressed during the competition. He used a well rounded skill set to find himself in the finals. He would have a striking advantage over Colton, but would he be able to hurt the Ranger, and stop his dominating grappling game. Smith would find the take down, easy and often, in the bout, while Ricci wasn't able to produce any kind of offense. The second and third rounds were the same as the first and Colton was to find himself the Ultimate fighter.

The Future

Whats next for Colton? He posses a very dominating grappling game that will see him do very well in the UFCs welterweight division. Unsure of when his next bout is for certain, you can guarantee that the new recruits at Fort Hood, are getting top notch instruction.
